These little peanuts were at the clinic with their moms. The one in blue was just hanging out in the lobby area taking his socks off. The extra tiny one is just a few weeks old and was very confused by my camera. The darling with curls was all smiles until I held the camera up. I love taking photos of people. :)

Mike and Patty were joined together in holy matrimony at the San Diego County Courthouse on a beautiful, bright winter day. Patty's parents witnessed the union in nearly the same location (the courthouse relocated) as their own wedding was held, 50 years earlier.

A young couple joined Patty and Mike at the same time for their ceremony. Patty gave the young bride her bouquet as a gift.

Krystina and Josh Feucht are good friends who live here in San Diego. They first found Emma (right) on the side of the road, then adopted Sallie (left) to keep her company. Last summer they adopted Dre (middle) from a neglectful home and they completed their happy family.

Keith and Cindy met me down in Balboa Park. We had about 20 minutes of pretty sunset lighting. Their little pooches are adorable, but were not really into the idea of staying still for photos. There were too many people and other dogs around! Too many things to sniff and say hello to. The Wyshak family is lovely to photograph, no matter what the circumstances.

Another Visit to North County

Note to self: doing a shoot with little kids the morning after Halloween is not the best idea. These little cuties were good sports, but they were not excited to be photographed at 9 am. I suspect they had a lot of candy the night before and had their photo taken numerous times. The good part is that with the little ones being a bit on the grumpy side, that enabled Mom and Dad to be more interactive, thus creating some more interesting behavior to photograph. All in all, it was a gorgeous day and the people were wonderful.

I'm working on a project with good friend and Vista Community Clinic employee, Spencer Gooch. The clinic is constructing a new building and the idea is to have an installation of photos and stories for a wall in the new building. It would illustrate through photos and written word how the clinic has helped real people heal both physically and emotionally. Here are photos of a few people who's lives have been positively changed by the staff and support from the clinic.

I have been a Democrat since I was in junior high grade and my mom gave me a "Friends Don't Let Friends Vote Repubican" tshirt and watched eagerly as Bill Clinton took office the first time. One of my homework assignments was to color in each state red or blue as the results came in that night. It makes me sad to see how low John McCain has fallen. Literally selling out everything he believes in to win the election. I believe that Obama is a real leader, focused and brilliant. Although he's leading in the polls right now we all remember how Al Gore won the popular vote but still lost the election. We need a landslide at the polls this year.

TOP 5 REASONS OBAMA SUPPORTERS SHOULDN'T REST EASY

1. The polls may be wrong. This is an unprecedented election. No one knows how racism may affect what voters tell pollsters—or what they do in the voting booth. And the polls are narrowing anyway. In the last few days, John McCain has gained ground in most national polls, as his campaign has gone even more negative.

2. Dirty tricks. Republicans are already illegally purging voters from the rolls in some states. They're whipping up hysteria over ACORN to justify more challenges to new voters. Misleading flyers about the voting process have started appearing in black neighborhoods. And of course, many counties still use unsecure voting machines.

3. October surprise. In politics, 15 days is a long time. The next McCain smear could dominate the news for a week. There could be a crisis with Iran, or Bin Laden could release another tape, or worse.

4. Those who forget history... In 2000, Al Gore won the popular vote after trailing by seven points in the final days of the race. In 1980, Reagan was eight points down in the polls in late October and came back to win. Races can shift—fast!

5. Landslide. Even with Barack Obama in the White House, passing universal health care and a new clean-energy policy is going to be hard. Insurance, drug and oil companies will fight us every step of the way. We need the kind of landslide that will give Barack a huge mandate.

I spent a warm and pleasant afternoon in the western portion of Point Loma. Ate lunch at a great local bakery called Con Pane on Rosecrans. They make incredible bread and one of my favorite indulgences is their grilled cheese sandwich – melted brie and gorgonzola on thick slices of rosemary bread. Delicious but certainly not lo-cal. If you go by there you should stop at the new Fresh & Easy market. I would describe it as the anti-Costco. Now, don't misunderstand, I am a fan of Costco's wide aisle's, endless samples, affordable prices and giant tubs of candy, but I live in a tiny apartment with just 1 other person so I really don't have anywhere to put 500 rolls of toilet paper. Fresh & Easy is more of a European-style market with it's real-person sized products, everthing with in reach and affordable pricing. The idea is that you should be able to run and run out with something for dinner that night.

After my tasty grilled cheese and before going to the market I took a nice stroll along the small, but lovely Shelter Island and took a few shots. It was very pleasant to walk in the warm sun and watch sail boats and birds go by.

YSC Fundraiser

The Young Survival Coalition is a group of women under 40 who have survived breast cancer. They're goal is to educate physicians as well as newly diagnosed women about the specific concerns that young women have. The concerns of a woman who is 30 (marriage, pregnancy, etc) are not the same concerns of a woman of 60. They work tirelessly to provide education and support to the San Diego community in general about breast cancer. Today they held a fund raising luncheon in Rancho Santa Fe and I was there supporting friends and taking some photos of the event. There was a lot of smiling faces, a lot of pink and a whole lot of great prizes to be raffled off.

This is a reminder to all women out there - make sure to Feel Your Boobies!

I have mentioned my talented friend Andrew Rossillo before, but this time it's in relation to an interesting job he brought to my table. He's been working closely with Alexandra Holmes, a life strategist and consultant with a twist. I immediately liked her because she believes that we are the sum of our life choices and that if you don't like your life, then make other choices. She created this deck of cards that combines a little bit of the mystical with self empowerment. Even if they don't help you make that important decision, they are a beautiful set of illustrated cards in a rich red textured box and I just love the gold debossed text.

After returning from their honeymoon the Wyshack's and I visited our favorite beach in La Jolla and got down and dirty in the surf. The gown Cindy wore for the ceremony she donated to an organization of breast cancer survivors and the reception gown she decided to get nice and soggy before having it dry cleaned and stored. Cindy and Keith were willing to get fully soaked and it made a really fun Trash the Dress session as well as a good work out for me as I dodged the in coming waves.

Nicole and Josh were married on August 1st at Linden Place in Bristol, RI. Picture Gatsby at a New Orleans jazz party sipping mint mojitos with lots of Rhode Island east bay pride. It was elegant and fun and full of laughter, family and love. I had the incredible joy of being Maid of Honor. Nicole and I met 10 years ago as fresh-faced Frosh at Northeastern and seeing her and Josh come together in marriage was wonderful, magically and the most natural thing ever. Josh happens to have the same birthday as me (Feb 29) and is kind, funny and like a brother to me. My heart literally was soaring to see them married.

The weather was clear and beautiful and HOT. We moved the chairs for the ceremony into the shade because we would have all melted if we had to stand in the sun. After eating and dancing we were all very very warm but it just made the day more memorable.

Fine local photo photographer Gabrielle Marks and her husband did a fantastic job documenting the event but here are a few photos that I took as well.

My brother and his girlfriend Carrie were guests and my mother performed the ceremony. It was a full McGuire event!

Nicole's nieces, Paige and Brooke, were also in the wedding party as a Junior Bridesmaid and flower girl. They are both delightful young women.

Nicole and Josh had their rehersal dinner at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI which is acres and acres of beautiful public water front land along the bay. The weather was predicted to be stormy but instead it was warm and beautiful. I always love it when the weatherman is wrong in a good way.

I bought Adobe Lightroom to help support my photo workflow. The program is pretty amazing and works seamlessly with Photoshop.

My stunning friend Cindy is getting married in just a few weeks in a church near my old apartment in Boston. With the unpredictable weather and cold beaches of New England she decided to do some bridal portraits before the wedding. A class of first graders from Scripps Ranch Elementary came to visit Life Force and learning about making Body Balance. They toured the facility then got dressed up in their GMP approved gear and got messy with some seaweed and Aloe vera to make their own "Body Balance". Everyone had a really fun time and the teachers want to bring another class to visit soon.

YSC Event for Women's Sexual Health

Last November I participated in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk here in San Diego. It was an epic journey. Emotionally, physically and mentally exhausting. My team, The A Cuppers, raised almost $7,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. While I look forward to participating in this event again, I don't think it will happen for another few years. I was looking for other ways to get involved with supporting the fight against cancer and I found this lovely group of ladies - The Young Survival Coalition of San Diego. They are women under the age of 40 who have survived breast cancer. A few of them were diagnosed before they even turned 30. They are a brilliant, warm and fun group of ladies to be around and their dedication to the cause is inspiring. They lead support groups for young breast cancer patients and also put on educational events, such as this one I attended. The topic of women's sexual health is still a little taboo and most oncologist simply were not taught anything about it in medical school. The side effects of cancer treatment can be devastating to a women's sexual health so the YSC worked with Dr. Goldstein of San Diego Sexual Medicine to put on this incredible and informative event - Women's Sexual Health While Surviving Cancer.

The bright blue polo shirts worn by Angela and Amanda are available at the YSC site with all proceeds going to the YSC.

The Life Force civic ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on February 7 on a beautiful bright sunny day in Poway. The ceremony was dedicated to Dr. Saccoman who was the original doctor to see the benefit in Body Balance and helped Wayne and Gerri get Life Force started 23+ years ago.

Her fiance, Keith, and their cutie-pup named Louie met me at Wind n' Sea for another breath-taking Pacific sunset. They're getting married in May in Boston at a church that was 2 blocks from my apartment. It is a lucky photographer who gets to shoot her as the stunning bride she'll be.

Rebecca and Michael met me at Wind n' Sea Beach with their cutie-pooches named Jessica and Jake. It was a quick, fun shoot in the sand and on the rocks. The pups were less than excited about posing for pictures, they just wanted to play and get dirty. But we managed to get them to sit still for a few great ones. I now officially want a basset hound.

It was another beautiful November day in San Diego. I went to Torrey Pines beach with my friends / coworkers and took some family photos for them to use on Christmas cards. Life Force building

The Life Force building in Poway survived the fires with no problem. The flames didn't come with in 10 miles of the building so it really wasn't in any danger. The landscapers came today to look at the area and talk about what to do. I've been photoshopping the grass in because it's just mostly dirt right now. Soon there will be lots of beautiful flowers and sculpted bushes. I climbed up on top of a large dirty breaker box to get this picture. The sky is really that pretty.

Taking pictures at the new Life Force building is pretty cool. Lots of shadows and highlights can make for interesting compositions. We'll be in the new building in just over two weeks. Hardly seems possible but the place is like a beehive full of hardworking people.

Laurasaurus Designs Laura is this cute blondey from San Diego that makes fun, whimsical jewelry with a hip, cool edge. We're working together to get better photos of her awesome creations. Bi-Lingual Wedding

On Saturday, August 18th I shot a bi-lingual wedding with KS. It was an epic day. Starting with the groomsmen getting ready at 11 am, through a full service ceremony, followed by formals in downtown SD and finally continuing the celebration in Old Town. The ceremony was at the Assembly church in Hillcrest and the reception was at a fantastic Mexican-food restaurant called Alcapolcos. It was incredible to see these two families and cultures come together through love and the celebration of marriage.

I went up to the new LFI building this morning to get more construction progress photos. There aren't any overhead lights yet, they're just working on the electrical now, so all light is either made by portable flood lights or sunlight through windows. It created some very interesting space to photograph.

It was intense and incredible! So many people you could barely move! and the San Diego convention center is bigger than huge, it's ginormous. There were plenty of things I wanted to see and do but I'm not really one for waiting in line for 2 hours and only maybe getting a seat. It also wasn't as great a photo option spot as I hoped because the sheer number of people really inhibited taking of proper photos. I was lucky if I could even get my arms up at times it was so packed. There was a lot that was lost on me seeing as I don't read any comics, but consider myself more of a sci-fi / fantasy nerd. I did pick up an Aes Sedai serpent ring and an Asha'man dragon pin which I am beyond psyched about. I did also see a guy dressed up as a solider from Battlestar Galactica and lots of Vote Petrelli buttons which I found amusing. And of course the Klingons were awesome.

I photographed as a 2nd shooter for the first time with KS this past Saturday. The bride and groom were so in love it was incredible. They were so laid back and just happy to be there with their friends and family celebrating the joining of their families. I wish every wedding could be this fun to shoot. Hopefully Kim and I are going to a "Trash the Dress" session with her when she gets back from Cancun.
